Art for art’s sake is no longer the mantra. Art, in the corporate world, has been elevated from being a decorative piece to an ‘official’ statement; one that reflects and represents companies’ ideas and goals. We take a look at the art works of four organisations and what they stand for.
Eka Software Solutions
Eka provides solutions for commodity trading and risk management. Eka is derived from the word “EKAM”, which means ‘unified’ or ‘integrated’ in Sanskrit. It embodies the companies vision to provide single-platform solutions to their customers. It also encompasses a higher vision -Eka's sense of community and environment. It is this vision of community and environment which is reflected in the artworks at Eka, which are in the form of cartoons, graphics and non-commissioned photographs. The art work titled Repay shows the Eka Sense of community and environment where Eka encourages the employees to “Give back/ repay” to the community. Likewise there is another untitled work which depicts recycling as another way to encourage employees to give back to the community or repay it. At the reception are pictures titled 'Eka Sense'. These depict the "6 Eka Senses" (See innovation in every opportunity, Hear and respect the opinions of your team, Blend creativity with discipline and experience, Balance work with fun, Evolve and grow untiringly, Feel sensitive to the needs of the community and environment). We wanted the employees and anyone who walks in to the office to be able to relate to the ethos and company's values. That's why we have these artworks here," says Shuchi Nijhawan, Senior Manager, Global Human Resources. The photographs were all bought off the market, since commodities are a highly photographed segment. As for the graphics, they were designed by the Design Team at Atelier keeping in mind an affinity to a young audience, since the average age at a product company like Eka’s is always below 30 years.
