Manav Garg
CEO & Founder
Manav Garg is the CEO and Founder of Eka Software Solutions. Besides the overall responsibility of managing Eka, Manav oversees the areas of business strategy and corporate finance. Manav founded Eka after a brief stint as a trader with a large global commodity trading house. It was during his trading days that he saw the deficiencies in traditional trading and risk management software. Realizing the market opportunity, and combining this with his passion for technology, Manav setup Eka with venture capital funding.
The first few years of organizational building at Eka were an invaluable experience, helping him gain deep and unique insights into all aspects of the business, and the needs of customers across the globe. Today, with Eka having shown significant growth in revenues, profitability, customer base and employees, Manav provides leadership and overall direction in such strategic areas as talent management, product direction and growth strategy. He constantly strives to achieve ever higher levels of organizational excellence and customer satisfaction by encouraging responsibility and accountability at all levels.
Born in 1974, Manav graduated as an engineer from REC (Regional Engineering College) Jalandhar, and followed this by an MBA from IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade), Delhi. He was recently awarded the Star Entrepreneur Award for 2008-09 at the 2nd Indira International India Innovation Summit.
Rick Nelson
President & COO
Rick is based out of New York and is responsible for driving global growth and customer satisfaction. In this role he leads International Sales, Account Management, Professional Services and Support.
Rick comes to Eka with over 25 years of experience in the commodities market. In his career that spans organizations as diverse as ICE, Louis Dreyfus, Triple Point and Enron, he has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to understand customers and businesses, and achieve high levels of sustainable business growth.
Prior to joining Eka, Rick was Vice-President Global Sales at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), where he was a member of the Executive Management Team and was responsible for growing existing energy and soft commodity markets. Before that, he was Head of Global Sales with Triple Point Technology for more than six years, where he built top-tier professional sales and sales support teams and expanded the market outside the firm’s traditional focus. Rick has held senior and leadership positions in other leading commodity companies.
Rick has an MBA from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University.
Daniel McEvoy
Global Head of Metals & Mining
Dan is responsible for Eka’s global metals & mining industry practice covering industry strategy, new business and product development, sales and marketing. Based in Eka’s USA office, he has more than 20 years of experience in the financial and commodities industries. His international trading and deep industry knowledge will help grow Eka’s metals & mining practice to the next level.
He joins Eka from Brady PLC where he served as President of Brady USA, Inc. Prior to this, Dan has held senior management and leadership roles with two other software start-ups. Earlier in his career, he worked for Credit Suisse and Citibank where he gained experience in precious metals, derivatives, project/trade finance and with two trading companies, Amalgamet and Cargill, where he traded physical non-ferrous metals, ores and concentrates. Dan is a former Special Advisor to the U.S. State Department during the U.S. participation in an international commodities agreement composed of producing and consuming countries, a former Director of The Gold & Silver Institute, and is a member of the Copper Club and International Precious Metals Institute.
Dan graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance.
Shobhit Mathur
Vice President,
Product Management and Pre Sales
Shobhit looks after the strategic management of Eka’s product portfolio and creating go-to-market strategies. He oversees the teams responsible for driving Eka’s roadmap, product innovation and user experience improvements. Shobhit is also responsible for all pre sales engagements, where he and his team of functional experts work closely with customers during the product evaluation process.
Prior to joining Eka in 2004, Shobhit worked with the Global Green Company, one of India’s largest horticulture produce exporters, where he was involved in various aspects of sales order planning and execution, agri sourcing and procurement, production planning, shipment and delivery. In his 12+ years of experience, he has developed and executed strategies globally for product strategy, new market entry, key account management, core team expansions and business development. Shobhit graduated in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University, followed by an MBA from IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade), Delhi.
Vinayak B.M
Chief Architect
Vinayak is responsible for product engineering at Eka. He has been part of the Eka project since its inception, and is today involved in defining and shaping the product’s architecture and driving technology initiatives. He leads a team of dedicated architects who are responsible for enhancing and constantly innovating the technology architecture and workflow in Eka.
Vinayak has over 15+ years of experience in building and managing technology teams with leading national and multinational IT companies, including HP and L&T Infotech.
Amit Sureka
Chief Financial Officer
Amit is responsible for Eka’s global financial activities and leads several related functions including budgeting, analysis and reporting, regulatory compliances and all related activities worldwide. Amit has extensive knowledge and experience in finance, having joined Eka from Jubilant’s Group’s Retail business where he was the Group CFO.
Prior to this, Amit was the CFO & Director of MphasiS BPO (MsourcE), where as a key member of the leadership team he helped grow the organization into one of the larger players in the BPO & IT sector. He has held top positions with various organizations across different geographies including USA where he worked with one of California’s largest banks as Vice President. Amit started his career with KPMG.
Amit is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and has completed advanced certification courses relating to finance from leading business schools in India and USA.
Julie Hance
Senior Vice President,
Product Management & Strategy
Julie is responsible for the vision, strategy and marketing of Eka’s portfolio of products and oversees the Product Management team’s activities associated with the entire life cycle of Eka products.
Julie joins Eka with over 25 years of industry experience in the areas of product management, engineering, quality assurance, marketing, and sales. Prior to Joining Eka, Julie was Vice President at Itron International, a global conglomerate with operations in 130 countries where she was responsible for Itron’s Software Solutions business. Before Itron, she has held executive positions at Orcom Solutions, Excelergy and Indus International software companies and began her career as an engineer at Florida Power and Light Company.
Julie holds a BS in Engineering from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
Mumu Pande
Vice President,
Engineering
Mumu is responsible for Eka’s technology vision, strategy and execution of Eka’s Commodities Trading & Risk Management Products in Agri-Commodities, Metals and Energy sectors. She heads the Product Development & Engineering functions at Eka.
Mumu comes with an extensive background in Application Development. She spent 10 years in the US and 4+ years in India with Oracle Inc where she was the Director of Development for Oracle's Fusion Applications. She worked in the CRM, GRC and BI areas wearing multiple hats in product development, product management, project planning, and customer engagement.
Mumu has a B.Tech in Engineering from University of Kolkata , St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, India and an MS from the University of Akron, Ohio, USA.
Andy Bout
Vice President,
Energy
Andy is based out of Calgary and is responsible for the energy markets served by EKA. He is the founder of EnCompass Technologies and has over 25 years of experience in the commodities market, specifically in the energy trading and risk management areas.
Andy comes to Eka as part of its acquisition of EnCompass Technologies. He founded the company in 1992 and led the company through the design, development and implementation of the EnCompass Energy Suite, an industry leading ETRM platform. His experience with EnCompass included working with large financial institutions, large and midsized trading firms, utilities, and producers in all functional areas. He has a customer focused approach with a focus on solving business process challenges. Prior to founding EnCompass, Andy worked for a Canadian based utility as well as Anderson Consulting serving primarily energy based companies.
Andy has a Bachelor of Business Degree (with Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University and CMA certification.
Stewart Brightman
Vice President,
Engineering
Stewart has over 32 years of experience in software development and has spent the last 16 years working on EnCompass’ energy trading and risk management product. He graduated in 1980 with a B.Sc. (Honours) from Lancaster University in England, and after a variety of roles with hardware and software vendors, consultants and system integrators, joined EnCompass as a principal and co-owner in 1997.
